Job summary

Knowmadics is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer in Wichita, KS. This role acts as the technical bridge between custom hardware and application software, supporting the development of AI-enabled hardware and sensor platforms. The ideal candidate has a strong background in embedded software, particularly with Linux systems, and enjoys working in an R&D environment.

Responsibilities include bringing up embedded Linux, building BSPs, and working closely with cross-disciplinary teams to solve integration challenges. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and able to obtain a security clearance.

Qualifications

• Eligible to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance – U.S. Citizenship required.
• 5+ years of embedded software experience with custom hardware.
• Working knowledge of DMA, PCIe, AXI, and interrupts.

Responsibilities

• Bring up embedded Linux on SoCs and custom hardware.
• Build and maintain BSPs including U-Boot and kernel configuration.
• Create drivers and hardware abstraction layers for memory-mapped hardware.

Skills

Strong C/C++ for embedded systems

Embedded Linux bring-up experience on ARM-based SoCs

BSP experience with U-Boot

Integration of memory-mapped hardware using Linux drivers

Ability to read schematics and troubleshoot hardware

Comfortable with Python and Bash scripting

Education

B.S. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
