Fairwinds Technologies is seeking an Embedded Systems Software Engineer to design and deploy Linux-based software on Xilinx UltraScale+ platforms, collaborating with hardware teams for PCB bring-up and system integration.

The role emphasizes low-level software, drivers, and real-time data processing for mission-critical RF and SATCOM applications in defense and civilian programs, with remote/hybrid work and occasional travel to Aberdeen, MD.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Minimum 8+ years of embedded software development experience for Linux-based systems.
• Hands-on experience with Xilinx UltraScale+ platforms and PetaLinux.
• PCB-based hardware bring-up and lab debugging with schematics/board constraints.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and scripting (Bash and/or Python) in embedded environments.
• Version control with SVN, Git or similar tools.
• Experience debugging Linux kernel and user-space interactions.
• Security clearance at DoD Secret level or higher (or ability to obtain).

Responsabilidades

• Develop embedded Linux software for Xilinx UltraScale+ platforms using PetaLinux.
• Support hardware bring-up and integration on custom PCB designs.
• Implement and maintain device drivers and board support components.
• Integrate FPGA logic with embedded software via AXI interfaces and user-space methods.
• Optimize performance-critical embedded Linux applications and real-time data handling.
• Create test utilities, diagnostics, and automation for lab/field validation.
• Collaborate with FPGA, DSP, RF, and hardware teams to deliver robust solutions.
