Job summary

NRG Energy is hiring a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to design and maintain application-level software running on embedded Linux-based smart home devices. You will integrate devices over wireless protocols into the Vivint ecosystem and build compelling user experiences.

You will collaborate with hardware, software, and QA teams to deliver high-quality code, while expanding your skills in C++, Qt/QML, Python or Rust, and modern web/IoT protocols.

Qualifications

• Experience developing front-end software on embedded Linux platforms.
• Proficiency with modern C++.
• Experience with QT/QML for UI.
• Experience with Python or Rust.
• Understanding of HTTP, MQTT, JSON, protobufs.
• Knowledge of OO design patterns.
• Experience compiling, unit testing and debugging in Linux.
• BS in Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
• At least 5 years of professional software development.
