Job summary

NRG Energy is seeking a results-driven automation engineer to design, develop, and maintain automated tests for Vivint's smart home security system. You'll work with panel software engineers, QA, hardware and product teams to deliver reliable, secure, and innovative experiences.

Apply your 3+ years of Python and embedded testing expertise in a fast-paced environment, collaborating across cross-functional teams while improving test reliability and reducing flaky tests.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional embedded test automation experience.
• 3+ years of Python experience.
• Experience with Linux-based systems and debugging.
• Experience with AI tools for software design and prompt engineering.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab).
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Python automated tests for API, UI, and system level scenarios for panels and peripheral devices.
• Review manual test cases and identify automation candidates.
• Debug test failures and reduce flaky tests.
• Participate in code reviews and follow automation best practices.
• Collaborate with developers, hardware and QA teams on integration and troubleshooting.
• Develop and maintain automated unit and functional tests.
