Job summary

Palladyne AI Corp. is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to develop, integrate, and optimize C++ software for embedded Linux on autonomous systems in Salt Lake City.

The role is on‑site and offers relocation assistance. You will work across the full software lifecycle, tackling multithreading, IPC, and system‑level performance challenges with cross‑discipline teams to deliver reliable autonomous capabilities on physical hardware.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience in embedded or systems software.
• Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering.
• Strong proficiency in modern C++, including multithreading, smart pointers, containers, memory management, and OO programming.
• Hands-on experience developing, integrating, debugging software on embedded Linux systems.
• Experience with Linux system-level programming, UNIX system calls, IPC, and hardware interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Independently design, develop, and maintain embedded Linux software using modern C++ for Palladyne AI's Pilot and SwarmOS.
• Develop multithreaded software meeting performance, security, reliability, and timing requirements on embedded robotic platforms.
• Drive software/hardware integration, diagnose issues across embedded Linux, OS, communications, and hardware.
• Troubleshoot interprocess communication, networking, and embedded systems communications for reliable interactions.
• Debug and validate software on physical hardware with hardware teams to identify root causes.
• Implement system-level functionality using Linux/UNIX interfaces including processes, threads, filesystems, and DB connections.
• Optimize system-level performance, concurrency, and timing for reliable operation on robotic platforms.
• Document maintainable C++ software and develop test plans to validate functionality and performance.
• Investigate complex problems and drive solutions through development, testing, and deployment.
• Collaborate across software, hardware, and other disciplines to deploy autonomous systems at customer sites.
