Job summary

Palladyne AI is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to develop, integrate, and optimize C++ software for embedded Linux systems powering autonomous platforms. The role involves solving multithreading and IPC challenges and ensuring reliable operation on physical robotic systems.

You will work across the software lifecycle, from development and testing through integration and deployment, collaborating with hardware and software teams to deliver robust autonomous capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required from an accredited university.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience in embedded or systems software.
• Strong proficiency in modern C++ and OO design.
• Hands-on experience with embedded Linux and hardware integration.
• Experience with Linux system-level programming and IPC.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded Linux software for Palladyne AI's Pilot and SwarmOS products.
• Develop reliable, multithreaded software that meets performance and timing requirements on embedded robotic platforms.
• Drive software and hardware integration across embedded Linux environments and hardware interfaces.
• Develop and troubleshoot interprocess communication, networking, and embedded system communications.
• Debug, integrate, and validate software directly on physical hardware with hardware teams.
• Implement system-level functionality using Linux/UNIX interfaces (processes, threads, file systems).
• Diagnose and optimize system-level performance and timing for reliability.
• Design and document maintainable, object-oriented C++ software and create test plans.
• Investigate complex technical problems and drive end-to-end solutions across teams.
• Collaborate across software, hardware, and other engineering disciplines to support deployment of autonomous systems at customer sites.
