Job summary

GE Vernova's Grid Solutions division in Niskayuna, NY is seeking a Senior Control Engineer to drive embedded firmware for power converters, from concept to prototype to product.

You will design robust control solutions, validate with high-voltage lab equipment, mentor engineers, and collaborate with global teams to deliver reliable, high-performance control systems for grid-scale energy technologies.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree with 6+ years in controls hardware development OR Bachelor’s with 8+ years in control hardware manufacturing and testing
• 5 years of experience with C/C++, PLCs, computer architecture, and embedded or industrial networking (MS Visual Studio TFS)
• 2–3 years of experience electrical design, schematics, PCBA layout interpretation, and/or component specification
• 2–3 years of experience with power converter control design, power electronics, and electrical/thermal considerations
• 3 years minimum experience with automation, test-driven development, and engineering test frameworks (GitHub, DLL, MATLAB, Python)

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and develop embedded firmware for power converters control systems including control boards and hardware integration
• Design and implement robust control solutions for power converters and embedded interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C)
• Write, compile, test, and debug firmware through full product development lifecycle
• Develop, maintain, and use simulation models of power converters for validation
• Lead or support validation testing of control software and hardware
• Collaborate across teams to ensure reliable, high-performing control systems and system integration
