Job summary

GE Vernova Advanced Research, in Niskayuna, NY, seeks an experienced electrical engineering professional to lead design, development, and maintenance of high and medium voltage electrical systems (115kV and 34.5kV). The role emphasizes project management, safety compliance, and collaboration with researchers and facilities teams.

You will review schematics, ensure NEC/OSHA/NFPA compliance, and coordinate interdepartmental efforts to support energy transition initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field with minimum 5 years experience in industrial electrical engineering, or Associate's degree with minimum 10 years, or HS diploma with minimum 15 years experience.
• Experience with research or testing operations including electrical system design, development, and implementation.
• Excellent project management skills including planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
• Strong electrical safety knowledge including OSHA, NFPA, IEEE, NEC.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems and infrastructure, including high and medium voltage systems (115kV and 34.5kV).
• Develop and review electrical system designs, including single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
• Oversee operation and maintenance of electrical systems, including troubleshooting and repair.
• Develop preventive maintenance programs to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
• Manage infrastructure projects from conception to completion, including planning, design, construction, and commissioning.
• Develop and implement electrical safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
