Job summary

Tektronix is seeking a Staff Hardware Engineer to design embedded hardware platforms using host processors running Linux or Windows, including Intel and ARM with FPGA fabric. You will create schematics, guide board layouts, and ensure manufacturability while debugging issues across development, integration, and production stages.

You will mentor early-career engineers, improve processes, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-reliability test systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Experience designing embedded hardware systems based on host processors with MMUs that run Linux or Windows.
• Experience with Intel processor platforms or ARM-based SoCs with integrated FPGA fabric.
• Experience designing and modifying complex multilayer circuit boards.
• Strong understanding of digital hardware design, memory subsystems, and power sequencing.
• Experience using PCB design tools for schematic capture, layout review, and design verification.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and modify embedded hardware platforms with host processors running Linux or Windows.
• Create and maintain hardware designs, schematics, and board-level architecture.
• Support circuit board layout activities and perform reviews for manufacturability and reliability.
• Use schematic capture, PCB layout, DRC, signal integrity, and power integrity analysis to reduce risk.
• Anticipate hardware bring-up, validation, and manufacturing needs early in design.
• Troubleshoot hardware issues during development, integration, and manufacturing.
• Develop documentation including design notes, schematics, rework instructions, and reports.
• Mentor junior engineers and seek process improvements.
