Job summary

Xylem is seeking an experienced Embedded Hardware Engineer in Illinois to design, develop, and maintain embedded hardware for intelligent control and monitoring systems. You will build multi-layer PCBs, select components, and manage power and sensor interfaces while coordinating with software, firmware, and mechanical teams.

The role requires 7+ years in embedded systems or industrial automation, experience with VFDs, and willingness to travel 10–20% domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in embedded systems or industrial automation.
• Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) in pumping/HVAC applications.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (10–20%).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded hardware for control and monitoring systems.
• Create schematics and PCB layouts, select components, manage power and sensors.
• Perform system integration, debugging, verification, and tests.
• Ensure regulatory compliance (UL/CE/EMC) and certifications.
• Collaborate with software, firmware, and mechanical teams for integration.
• Provide technical support for manufacturing and field issues.
• Travel to customer sites to diagnose field issues.
