Universal Electronics Inc. (UEI) seeks a Firmware Engineer III to design, develop and modify embedded firmware for sensors, IR/RF remotes, and HVAC controls using both analog and digital hardware.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of embedded real-time firmware development (requirements analysis, design, testing)
• 3+ years in system design/architecture
• Experience with embedded firmware in platform-independent environments
• Experience with RF technologies: Bluetooth, BLE, Zigbee, Wi‑Fi, Z‑Wave
• Experience with SPI, I2C, UART, I2S
• Experience with MCU cores (ARM Cortex)
• Experience with RTOS such as FreeRTOS
• Experience debugging with JTAG/logic analyzers
• Experience in consumer electronics including IR/RF remotes, HVAC/sensors
• Strong problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration abilities
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

Responsibilities

• Conduct R&D on new high-tech devices and products.
• Work in an Agile cross-functional team with story development and testing.
• Discuss architecture, defects, and enhancements with teammates.
• Develop specifications from requirements and translate to production code.
• Track issues and drive resolutions with the team.
• Mentor junior engineers and review designs/code.
• Architect, design and validate embedded firmware on MCUs.
• Support production transfers and new processes across locations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve product issues.
• Handle multiple projects across various phases.
