Job summary

Blue Origin in the United States seeks an Embedded Software Engineer to develop, test, and maintain firmware for microcontrollers, DSPs, and FPGA-based control platforms in power electronics systems.

You will work closely with hardware and power electronics engineers on board bring-up, validation, and real-time software for sensors, PWM, and protection circuits, delivering robust, lab-tested software for spaceflight propulsion applications.

Qualifications

• BS Engineering or equivalent with 7+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Experience developing embedded software/firmware for microcontrollers, DSPs, or FPGA-based systems.
• Strong C/C++ programming for real-time embedded systems and hardware integration.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded software and firmware for microcontrollers, DSPs, and FPGA-based control platforms.
• Implement low-level drivers, interfaces, and real-time software for power electronics systems.
• Interface with sensors (ADCs, voltage/current/temperature), PWM modules, and protection circuits.
• Develop software for sensor acquisition, calibration, and diagnostics.
• Support real-time control execution for power converters, inverters, and motor drives.
• Develop and debug communication interfaces (CAN, SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet).
• Collaborate with hardware, controls, and power electronics engineers during bring-up, integration, and validation.
• Debug timing, interrupts, ADC readings, PWM synchronization, and fault handling.
• Perform software testing, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and documentation.
