Job summary

Blue Origin Engines in Seattle, WA is seeking an Embedded Control Electronics Hardware Engineer to design, develop, and validate control boards for power conversion and power electronics systems. This role emphasizes embedded control electronics, sensing accuracy, and lab debugging capabilities.

You will collaborate with firmware, controls, and power electronics teams to integrate control boards with power stages and sensors, ensuring robust performance and testability in lab environments.

Qualifications

• BS Engineering (computer engineering, electrical engineering, or similar) and 5+ years relevant industry experience.
• Experience designing embedded control board hardware for power electronics or power conversion systems.
• Strong understanding of microcontrollers, DSPs, FPGAs, ADCs, and digital control hardware.
• Familiarity with mixed-signal PCB design considerations, including grounding, isolation, noise reduction, EMI, and high‑voltage system interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Design embedded control board hardware for power conversion systems, including converters, inverters, motor drives, and related power electronics platforms.
• Develop control board architectures using microcontrollers, DSPs, FPGAs, ADCs, and mixed‑signal circuitry.
• Design voltage, current, and temperature sensing circuits for accurate system monitoring and control.
• Develop signal conditioning, filtering, scaling, isolation, and protection circuitry for sensor inputs.
• Interface analog sensing circuits with ADCs and validate measurement accuracy, resolution, timing, calibration, and noise performance.
• Support schematic design, component selection, PCB layout review, board bring‑up, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Work with firmware, controls, and power electronics engineers to integrate boards with power stages, gate drivers, sensors, and communication interfaces.
• Debug control board hardware issues related to ADC readings, sensor accuracy, grounding, EMI, isolation, timing, and protection behavior.
• Validate board performance in lab environments using oscilloscopes, power supplies, meters, signal generators, and other test equipment.
