Job summary

Samsara is seeking an experienced Senior Embedded Software Engineer to build firmware for millions of devices in a connected operations platform. You will help select hardware, bring up new boards, and own critical firmware layers from drivers to device management, optimizing power for battery-powered sensors and gateways.

You will work with product, full-stack, mobile and QA teams to ensure data integrity and practical, scalable solutions across deployments.

• 8+ years building firmware for resource-constrained systems.

Responsibilities

• Shape the hardware, not just the code that runs on it.
• Bring up new platforms and prototypes from virgin silicon; configure I/O, enable SPI/I2C/UART/BLE, validate the design.
• Own the layers everything else depends on: drivers, bootloaders, updates, power and connectivity.
• Chase every microamp; design for battery-powered sensors and gateways.
• Collaborate with product, full-stack, mobile and QA engineers to ensure firmware data arrives intact and usable.
• Lead by example with thoughtful designs, reviews, and mentorship to deliver high-quality solutions.
