Job summary

Samsara, a leader in the Connected Operations Cloud, seeks a Senior/Staff Embedded Software Engineer to build software for millions of devices. You will drive hardware bring-up, sensor integration, and data pipelines across MCU firmware and Linux-based gateways.

You’ll code in C for MCU platforms, use Golang on gateways and backend services, and apply protobufs and AWS tools. This remote role is open to applicants in the United States or Canada, with collaboration across product, full‑stack,

Qualifications

• Experience building firmware for MCUs and embedded systems.
• Experience with Linux-based gateways and backend services is a plus.
• Familiarity with protocol buffers (protobufs) and cloud platforms (AWS) is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Shape hardware platforms and drive the choice of SoC, flash, RAM, and sensors.
• Bring up new boards and prototypes from silicon to customer-ready hardware.
• Own core firmware layers: drivers, secure updates, power and connectivity management.
• Collaborate with product, full‑stack, mobile and QA teams to ensure data quality and reliability.
