Job summary

Micron Technology, Inc. in Boise, Idaho, seeks a Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer to design, develop, and debug firmware tightly coupled to custom hardware for next‑generation memory testers.

You will work across software, electrical, and mechanical teams in a lab environment. Ideal candidates have 4+ years of embedded software experience, strong C/C++, hands‑on hardware debugging, and experience with lab equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
• 4+ years of embedded software development tightly coupled to custom hardware.
• Strong proficiency in C and C++.
• Demonstrated ability to read schematics and trace hardware/software interfaces during debug.
• Hands-on experience using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMMs, and power supplies to debug real systems.
• Comfortable debugging issues that span firmware, board-level electronics, and electromechanical interactions.
• Experience and/or interest in Agentic AI code development and including Agentic workflows into current or future processes.

Responsibilities

• Design: Develop new and modify existing equipment in cross-discipline design teams (software, electrical, control, and mechanical engineers).
• Code: Develop in C, C++, Bash, and Python on bare metal and under RHEL compatible Linux distros in containers.
• Manufacture: Work with New Product Introduction and Operation teams in manufacturing of equipment.
• Innovate: Tackle projects to keep Micron competitive with unique design solutions.
• Support: Improve existing designs and assist manufacturing and production support.
• Hands-On Work: Daily lab work with electronics and equipment in a lab environment.
• Hardware Debug: Debug software–hardware interactions using schematics, layout plots, datasheets, and lab equipment to root-cause system-level issues.
