Job summary

Skyrocket Ventures seeks a mid-level to senior Firmware/Embedded Software Engineer to advance autonomous robotics initiatives in San Francisco. You will develop and bring up firmware for ARM-based microcontrollers powering delivery drones, with a strong emphasis on safety, reliability, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on embedded systems experience.
• Expertise in bare-metal programming on ARM MCUs.
• Proficiency in C and C++ for embedded targets.
• Experience with hardware bring-up and low-level debugging on custom boards.
• Understanding of digital electronics and embedded peripherals.
• Strong system-level thinking and ownership across development cycles.

Responsibilities

• Development and bring-up of ARM-based microcontroller platforms across robotics products; high ownership of low-level firmware.
• Design, implement, and validate firmware for motion control, sensors, communications, power management, and safety-critical functionality.
• Hands-on board bring-up and cross-disciplinary collaboration with EE and systems engineers.
• Firmware bring-up for new embedded platforms (ARM Cortex-M).
• Develop and maintain bare-metal and RTOS-based firmware for subsystems (motor control, sensors, telemetry, power).
• Write and maintain robust C/C++ code for embedded targets.
• Collaborate with electrical engineering on hardware bring-up, schematic review, and integration.
• Lead system bring-up, validation, and debug.
• Contribute to firmware safety, reliability, and system-level robustness.
