Job summary

dormakaba International Holding AG in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Firmware Engineer to design, develop, test, validate, and support embedded products for access control. The role collaborates across hardware, firmware, manufacturing and quality to improve reliability through the product lifecycle.

Requirements include a bachelor’s in an engineering discipline and 5+ years in product development with embedded C on MCU platforms, plus experience with I2C/UART/SPI and EMI/EMC considerations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in product development, design, or test engineering with a focus on electromechanical or embedded products.
• Hands-on experience developing embedded firmware in C for microcontroller-based systems and familiarity with I2C/UART/SPI.
• Knowledge of EMI/EMC fundamentals and design considerations for emissions and transients.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve complex environmental and reliability issues across electrical, firmware, and mechanical systems.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance embedded firmware for production products and manufacturing test systems.
• Design and implement test solutions, including firmware, automated fixtures, and validation tools.
• Perform root cause analysis and CAPA for manufacturing, assembly, and field quality issues using structured methodologies.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and supplier partners to improve product performance and drive improvements.
