Job summary

dormakaba International Holding AG is seeking a Firmware Engineer based in Indianapolis, IN, with hybrid work flexibility. You will design, develop, test, validate, and support embedded firmware for access control and door hardware, collaborating across hardware, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure robust products through the lifecycle.

The role requires 5+ years in embedded product development, C programming for microcontrollers, and strong EMI/EMC knowledge.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field.
5+ years of experience in product development, design, or test engineering for embedded/ electromechanical products.
Experience taking products through full development lifecycle from concept to mass production.
Hands-on embedded firmware development in C for MCU-based systems with I2C/UART/SPI.
Strong EMI/EMC fundamentals including radiated emissions and ESD considerations.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and resolve hardware, firmware, and reliability issues through testing and root-cause analysis.
Develop, maintain, and enhance embedded firmware for production and test systems.
Design test solutions and fixtures to support engineering and manufacturing activities.
Perform CAPA and 8D-type problem solving for quality and manufacturing issues.
Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and suppliers to improve product readiness and reliability.
