Job summary

ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions is seeking an Embedded Systems Engineer – Hardware & Firmware to lead hardware and firmware architecture for next‑generation access control devices. The role collaborates across software, mechanical, product management, manufacturing, quality, and support to deliver secure, robust solutions.

You will drive embedded C/C++ firmware, secure connectivity, and device management, while ensuring validation, production readiness, and compliance with relevant standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 5+ years of embedded hardware/firmware experience.
• Strong C/C++ in bare-metal or RTOS environments with analog/digital circuit design experience.
• Experience with SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet or USB interfaces; board bring-up and debugging.
• Experience developing embedded Linux-based systems; Yocto knowledge is valuable.
• Regulatory certification experience (FCC, CE, UL, RoHS, REACH) and Python for diagnostics is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead embedded hardware platforms and system architectures for access control devices.
• Design schematics and guide PCB layout for signal integrity and EMI/EMC considerations.
• Perform board bring-up, validation, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
• Develop embedded firmware and secure connectivity using RTOS or bare-metal approaches.
• Implement secure firmware architectures and cryptographic controls.
• Integrate wired/wireless connections to cloud, mobile, and enterprise systems; support lifecycle.
• Collaborate across teams for manufacturability, quality, and sustained engineering.
