Job summary

Quartermaster AI is seeking a Senior Embedded Linux / Platform Software Engineer to own the software stack running on NVIDIA Jetson hardware inside our SmartMast edge devices. You will integrate cameras, radar, AIS, GPS and other sensors into a unified, AI-enabled platform deployed on vessels.

You will work across hardware bringup, ROS2 middleware, edge inference pipelines, and the cloud connectivity layer to deliver data to analysts in near real time.

Qualifications

• Strong embedded Linux engineering experience in production environments.
• Proven sensor integration across cameras, radar, AIS/GPS, and similar hardware.
• Robust software practices: testing, observability, reliability.
• Proficient in Python, C++, and shell scripting; Rust a bonus.
• Experience with NVIDIA Jetson, ROS2 middleware, and edge AI pipelines.
• Familiar with OTA/ fleet management and cloud ingestion (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the embedded Linux platform for SmartMast edge devices.
• Integrate and maintain sensor interfaces across cameras, radar, AIS, GPS/GNSS, and thermal systems.
• Build and maintain ROS2-based middleware for inter-process communication.
• Develop edge AI inference pipelines under real compute constraints.
• Design edge-to-cloud data paths with low latency and resilient networks.
• Manage OTA update workflows and fleet device deployment.
• Debug field issues and drive durable fixes.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, and operations teams to ship features.
