Job summary

Honeywell Aerospace is seeking a Sr Advanced Software Engineer to help design, develop, integrate, verify, and release software features for Avionics Displays systems. You will work within the Integrated Flight Deck Systems COE to define and improve engineering processes, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate feature decomposition with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.
• 8 years of software development experience in embedded, real-time, or regulated software environments.
• 8 years of hands-on C++ development in embedded/real-time systems (e.g., DEOS, RTOS).
• Experience designing software architectures, object-oriented designs, algorithms, data structures, and software lifecycle processes including design, development, verification, and release.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute engineering project tasks to meet technical, quality, schedule, and customer requirements.
• Perform feature implementation, sub-task identification, and technical coordination across software development activities.
• Develop, analyze, and capture software and system requirements for assigned features and subsystems.
• Design, develop, integrate, and maintain software for Avionics Displays systems, algorithms, and application/framework-level functionality.
• Conduct testing, debugging, integration, and verification of software and systems to ensure compliance with product and project requirements.
• Support generating software builds, integration, and release activities to enable efficient software delivery.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems engineering, cross-functional teams, quality, certification, program management, and other engineering disciplines.
• Support the completion of products to achieve certification and customer acceptance.
• Interface with internal and external customers to facilitate product development and ensure compliance with customer specifications.
• Communicate project status, technical progress, risks, and process updates to leadership and customers.
• Identify non-compliance issues and communicate audit findings, corrective actions, and technical impacts to relevant stakeholders.
• Identify, propose, and implement technical and process improvements to enhance engineering efficiency, quality, and project outcomes.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of engineering processes, methods, and guidelines within Integrated Flight Deck Systems COE.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to early-career engineers.
• Provide directions to other engineers and support personnel to ensure alignment with project and product compliance objectives.
