Job summary

Trane Technologies seeks a Senior Product Security Engineer to lead secure embedded software initiatives for next-generation transport refrigeration and mobile HVAC controls. You will drive threat modeling, SDLC security, and regulatory type approval efforts across multi-region teams, balancing performance, safety, and privacy requirements.

You will coordinate with Systems, Hardware, and Software groups to translate risks into concrete security solutions, ensure compliance, and mentor teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering or related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in embedded product security.
• Experience with automotive cybersecurity and regulatory type approval ISO/SAE 21434 and UNECE R155/R156.
• Experience with embedded software development and languages: C, C++, C#, Rust, Python.
• Knowledge of Embedded Linux (Yocto) and RTOS (FreeRTOS, Zephyr) is required.
• Familiarity with security standards: SAST and software composition analysis.
• DevOps tooling experience: GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps.

Responsibilities

• Assess product security risks in a maintained register and develop mitigation strategies.
• Lead security activities across the SDLC including threat modeling, penetration testing and CSCM activities.
• Identify, evaluate, and verify security issues from testing and customer feedback.
• Ensure compliance with automotive cybersecurity regulations and standards.
• Support CSMS and SUMS processes and evidence alignment.
• Define and validate secure OTA and service-tool update paths, PKI management, and code signing.
• Apply privacy-by-design and support data-protection impact assessments.
• Mentor cross-disciplinary teams on security features and best practices.
• Travel up to 5% may be required.
