Job summary

HP in Austin seeks a Senior Audio Software Development Engineer to own embedded audio software from multi-channel mic capture to speaker output. You will design and optimize algorithms for low-latency voice processing, collaborating with hardware teams to align software with hardware.

You will extend Android/Linux audio subsystems, prototype AI-enabled enhancements, and build robust test and validation pipelines while mentoring junior developers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Audio Engineering, or a related field.
• 7–10+ years of professional embedded C/C++ audio apps experience in RTOS environments.
• Expert-level DSP concepts for voice communication (AEC, beamforming, noise filters, spatial audio).
• Hands-on experience with Linux ALSA or Android Media Framework.
• Proficiency with Python, MATLAB, or similar tools for audio data analysis and simulations.
• Familiarity with I2S, TDM, PDM, USB Audio interfaces and external hardware like ADCs/DACs.

Responsibilities

• Implement, tune, and optimize advanced audio processing algorithms (AEC, beamforming, SSL, noise suppression, dereverberation, AGC).
• Design low-latency embedded audio pipelines for multi-channel inputs/outputs across multiple ADCs.
• Collaborate with Austin hardware team to calibrate software parameters to transducer responses and room acoustics.
• Extend embedded Linux/Android platforms with new audio capabilities in the Media Framework and RT DSP environments.
• Prototype and integrate ML/audio AI for speech enhancement, speaker/talker detection, and noise classification.
• Build automated validation frameworks, scripts, and CI pipelines for real-time DSP validation.
• Lead and mentor engineers; enforce code quality and robust documentation.
• Design networked audio pipelines with AES67/RTP and PTPv2 for tight synchronization.
• Develop and optimize custom Yocto-based Linux distributions for deterministic performance.
