Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a Senior Electromagnetic Design Engineer in the Greater Seattle Area to own magnetic circuit sizing and detailed EM/thermal analyses for power systems hardware. You will work across the full development lifecycle—from concept sizing to first-build test—on a small, high-output team.

The role requires a strong background in EM design, FEA tool proficiency (ANYS Maxwell, JMAG, Motor-CAD), and a track record of taking designs through hardware deployment. U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Significant hands-on experience in electromagnetic design and analysis.
• Proficiency with FEA tools and coupled EM-thermal simulations.
• Strong fundamentals in electromagnetics and materials.

Responsibilities

• Perform electromagnetic design and sizing of core components, including material selection and magnetic circuit design.
• Conduct detailed electromagnetic FEA to predict performance, losses, and flux distribution.
• Develop coupled electromagnetic-thermal models for temperature prediction under operating conditions.
• Generate design documentation, drawings, and specifications for procurement and manufacturing.
• Collaborate with mechanical, power conversion, and controls engineers on integrated system design.
• Support prototype build, testing, and validation; address design risks with data-driven analysis.
