Coderio is hiring a Senior Elixir Developer to design, build, and maintain distributed, fault-tolerant backend systems. You will work across product and DevOps teams to deliver high-concurrency services using BEAM, OTP, Phoenix, and GraphQL/REST APIs.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of backend experience, deep Elixir ecosystem knowledge, and a track record of scalable architectures. This is a 100% remote role open to US-based professionals.

• Proficiency in Phoenix, Ecto, and OTP.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and Ecto mapping.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Elixir Developer to join our engineering teams working on high-impact scalable products. In this role, you will play a key part in designing, building, and maintaining distributed, fault-tolerant backend systems with low latency and high concurrency. We are looking for an experienced software engineer with a strong background in functional programming, capable of driving architectural decisions, mentoring teammates, and collaborating with cross-functional global stakeholders.

What To Expect In This Role (Responsibilities)

• Design, build, and scale highly concurrent backend applications and microservices using Elixir and Phoenix.

• Architect and implement resilient, distributed systems leveraging the BEAM ecosystem and OTP (GenServer, Supervisors, Tasks).

• Design, build, and integrate RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs.

• Optimize database queries and schema models using Ecto with PostgreSQL and non-relational databases.

• Enforce code quality, maintainability, and test coverage through unit testing, integration testing, and rigorous code reviews.

• Partner with product managers, DevOps engineers, and frontend developers in an agile environment.

• Participate in high-level architectural discussions, system design, and establishing engineering best practices.

Requirements

• Experience: 5+ years of software engineering experience in Backend Development, with at least 3+ years of active experience with Elixir.

• Deep proficiency in the Elixir ecosystem: Phoenix Framework, Ecto, and OTP.

• Solid understanding of functional programming concepts and design patterns.

• Hands-on experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and mapping tools (Ecto).

• Demonstrated experience designing and integrating APIs (REST, GraphQL).

• Exposure to microservice architectures, message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and caching layers (Redis).

Nice to Have

• Experience with Erlang.
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration platforms (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Hands-on experience with cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Exposure to Phoenix LiveView.
• Open-source contributions within the Elixir / BEAM community.
