Job summary

The Missouri Division of Fire Safety is seeking an Elevator and Amusement Ride Inspector to perform annual safety inspections and oversee inspections and investigations to ensure public safety in Missouri.

Applicants must meet experience and certification requirements, be willing to relocate to target counties within 90 days, and possess strong knowledge of ASME and NFPA codes. Supervisory support is provided by the Deputy Chief and staff.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience in mechanical and/or electrical trades including elevator work.
• Ability to obtain QEI certificate within two years.
• Ability to obtain NAARSO Level 1 or equivalent within two years.
• Pass physical and psychological examinations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct annual safety inspections and testing of elevators, escalators, moving walks, lifts, and related equipment.
• Identify and locate unregistered elevator-related equipment.
• Investigate accidents or failures and oversee state-licensed inspectors.
• Review plans of new/altered equipment and provide technical assistance.
• Travel extensively to complete assignments.
