Qualifications

Requires a four-year college degree in Electronic, Electrical, Mechanical, or related engineering field.
Requires five years of professional experience working with elevators.
Certification as a Qualified Elevator Inspector (ASME QEI-1) from ASME or accredited body.

Responsibilities

Travels to sites and conducts re-inspections of elevators to enforce state laws and ensure inspectors perform properly.
Examines plans, specifications, and applications for permits of new installations.
Investigates elevator-related accidents and damages exceeding $1,000 on a statewide basis.
Performs safety tests on lifts and lifting apparatus.
