Job summary

Peraton’s NASA Balloon Operations Contract team in Palestine, Texas seeks a Lead Electronics Technician to support manufacture, test, integration, and field operations for balloon missions from inception through flight. You will fabricate, test, and troubleshoot electronic and electro-mechanical systems, coordinating with science teams and engineers.

Qualified applicants have a BS degree or equivalent with significant hands-on experience, plus skills in soldering, RF telemetry, and schematic

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent with eight+ years' experience required.
• Experience with RF telemetry and electronics testing is required.
• Proficiency with soldering, crimping, and component placement.
• Ability to read schematics and electrical diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine electronics fabrication, assembly, testing and integration for balloon missions.
• Work from schematics, procedures, change requests and verbal direction to perform prototype assembly, environmental testing and qualification tasks.
• Perform routine ground support equipment maintenance.
• Coordinate with science teams, researchers and engineers regarding system requirements.
• Configure test apparatus and equipment to conduct functional, environmental, and qualification tests.
• Provide downrange telemetry support for remote and foreign campaigns.
• Assure quality workmanship, equipment readiness, and operation of electronic systems and test equipment.
• Provide status updates and participate in reviews.
