Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks an Electronics Packaging Engineer to lead the design of electromechanical hardware from concept through delivery, including thermal and structural analysis, detailed design, assembly, and testing.

You will collaborate with teams of engineers and scientists across mission areas, participate in design reviews, mentor junior members, and support a fast-paced, secure environment with occasional travel and a requirement to obtain a Secret level

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Experience with full product development lifecycle including design, analysis, and integration.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAE software (CREO, SolidWorks, ANSYS, FEMAP).
  • Ability to work closely with engineering teams to develop systems.
  • Good communications and team-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of electromechanical hardware from concept through delivery.
  • Perform thermal and structural analysis, detailed design, assembly, and testing.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and promote standard methodologies.
  • Participate in design reviews and team meetings; mentor junior members.
