Job summary

Amentum in the United States is seeking an Electronic Component Engineering SME to influence part selection, ensure reliability, and support tests for critical military programs from concept through sustainment.

The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, quality and standards work, and collaboration with government and industry partners, with travel up to 50% and a path to advancing defense-system lifecycles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM required; 5+ years of relevant experience or equivalent.
• Component engineering experience with emphasis on quality and reliability of IEEE parts.
• Familiarity with MIL‑STD standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide component engineering support and author clear, well‑structured technical reports.
• Advise programs on part selection to ensure performance and long-term sustainment.
• Troubleshoot component-level issues and suggest effective solutions.
• Apply knowledge of electrical test methods, radiation effects, failure analysis, and material analysis tools.
• Collaborate with program offices, prime contractors, designers, and government stakeholders.
• Create and review detailed test plans and related documentation.
• Provide full life-cycle engineering support for strategic defense systems.
• Participate in audits and reviews shaping industry and defense standards.
• Travel 25–50% to support audits, reviews, meetings, and engagements.
