Job summary

The University of Houston System seeks an Electrical Technician to support the Electrical Supervisor in leading electricians for the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems in university buildings. This role requires a valid Texas driver’s license and a Journeyman Electrical license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• A valid Texas driver’s license is required.
• Requires State of Texas Journeyman Electrical license.
• Minimum of three years of directly related experience.
• Security check will be conducted for UH system positions.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Electrical Supervisor in leading and coordinating electricians in installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems, components, and fixtures in university buildings.
• Coordinate activities of electricians and support staff in installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems, interior/exterior lighting, and emergency generators.
• Assist supervisor in developing work schedules and maintaining shop records and department documentation.
• Prepare monthly reports and review time sheets, overtime, vacation, and sick leave forms; log electrical tasks performed in the shop.
• Assist with safety procedures and training; support during emergencies such as floods, storms, hurricanes.
