The University of Houston System seeks an Electrical Technician to support the Electrical Supervisor in leading electricians for the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems in university buildings. Qualifications

• Prepare monthly reports and review time sheets, overtime, vacation, and sick leave forms; log electrical tasks performed in the shop.
• Assist with safety procedures and training; support during emergencies such as floods, storms, hurricanes.

Description

• Assists the Electrical Supervisor in leading and coordinating the work of electricians in the installation, repair and maintenance of electrical systems, components and fixtures in university owned buildings. Pursuant to the State of Texas Executive Order No. GA-48, this position researches, works on, or has access to critical infrastructure and requires the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the University infrastructure. This position requires personnel be routinely reviewed to determine whether or not criminal history or continuous connections for the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the employee from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure.
• Coordinates the activities of electricians and supportspersonnel in the installation, repair and maintenance of electricalsystems, interior/exterior lighting and emergency generators.
• Assists the supervisor in developing work schedules andmaintaining shop records and other department documentation.
• Prepares monthly reports and reviews daily time sheets,overtime, vacation and sick leave request forms; logs electricaltasks performed in the electrical shop.
• Assists in preparing performance appraisals of electriciansand recommendations on promotions, new hires and terminations.
• Maintains tools and equipment and assists in maintaining anadequate stock of electrical equipment and supplies.
• Assists with safety procedures and training.
• Serves on special task force during periods of emergency suchas floods, storms, hurricanes, etc.
• Performs other job-relatedduties as assigned.

High School Diploma or GED Required

• THIS JOB REQUIRES A VALID TEXAS DRIVER'S LICENSE.
• Requires State of Texas Journeyman Electrical license.
• MQ: Requires a basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuationand simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. asmight normally be acquired through attainment of a high schooldiploma or GED. Education verification will be conducted uponacceptance of an employment offer.
• Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-relatedexperience. Requires technical certification or licensing directlyrelated to the job, as specified on a job description addendum.
