Job summary
Hanson Professional Services Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer specializing in Substation Design to support high‑voltage projects for utility, municipal, and industrial clients.
This senior role requires a PE license and extensive experience in 69kV–500kV substations, protection coordination, and interdisciplinary design integration. The candidate should have a BS in Electrical Engineering, 8+ years of substation experience, and familiarity with IEEE/NESC/NEC standards, AutoCAD
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in electrical engineering or related field.
- PE license is required at hire.
- Minimum 8 years in substation or power delivery engineering.
- Experience with utilities, transmission and distribution, or power industry clients.
- Strong understanding of substation equipment, protection philosophies, and standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead design of substations from 69kV through 500kV, including layouts and configurations.
- Coordinate with protection, control, SCADA, and field teams.
- Develop drawings, specifications, and material lists; perform electrical calculations.
- Provide project leadership, QC of drawings and specs, and risk/policy adherence.
- Mentor junior engineers and interact with multidisciplinary teams.
