Job summary

Rivian in Irvine, California, is seeking a Senior Electrical Safety Integration Engineer to lead vehicle-level safety strategies, crash-reaction architecture, and high-voltage isolation. This on-site role partners with Safety, Homologation, Energy Storage, and Software teams to drive safe, compliant vehicle development.

You will own crash testing from simulation to launch, coordinate cross-functional activities, and ensure milestones are met while maintaining quality and budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Systems, Mechanical, Automotive or related discipline.
• 7–10+ years in automotive electrical safety, vehicle integration, battery systems, crash testing, or post-crash analysis.
• Hybrid/on-site at the Irvine, CA facility.
• Deep knowledge of HV/LV systems, BMS, HVIL, high-voltage contactors, isolation monitoring, CAN, and diagnostic logs.
• Strong knowledge of safety standards (FMVSS 305, FMVSS, ISO 26262, IIHS, Euro NCAP, US NCAP).
• Proven project management with milestones, risks, requirements traceability, and cross-functional coordination.
• Willingness to travel to labs, testing grounds, and launch locations.

Responsibilities

• Define, develop, and execute testing strategies for HV/LV systems focusing on crash safety.
• Own crash testing and validation for electrical safety from simulation to launch.
• Lead vehicle-level anomaly investigations using crash data, diagnostics, and CAN traces.
• Collaborate with Electrical Energy Storage, Electric Power Conversion, Electrical Hardware, Packaging, Software, Structural Safety, and Homologation teams to build comprehensive electrical safety strategies.
• Influence leadership to resolve trade-offs and align safety goals.
• Track milestones, manage risks, and coordinate deliverables across departments.
