Job summary

Messer is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support electrical equipment and infrastructure across the Houston-area plant fleet. You will report to the Area Maintenance and Reliability Hub Team and provide SME recommendations for electrical systems, including high- and medium-voltage equipment.

Your role includes maintenance planning, CBM evaluation, EMOC changes, PM documentation, and field support during upgrades and new plant startups. Travel 30–40% is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 7–10 years of electrical engineering experience in Operations Support, Reliability or Engineering and Installation of Industrial Process Plants, power distribution required.
• Willingness to travel 30–40% (60–80 nights/year).

Responsibilities

• Provide technical, troubleshooting and maintenance support to all electrical plants, including 138kV substations, switchgear, motor control centers and VFDs.
• Develop detailed electrical major maintenance scope, budget, contractor selection and execution strategy.
• Identify and assess CBM tools and practices; review related data and agree actions with field teams.
• Provide electrical technical support and EMOC approvals; assist with engineering documentation for changes.
• Create/approve electrical PMs, work instructions and related procedures; review PM execution quality.
• Support field operations for major maintenance, upgrades, startup and commissioning; perform loop checks and testing.
• Provide scope, estimates and execution support for large capital projects and re-life initiatives.
• Supervise electrical contractors to ensure proper scope and quality deliverables.
• Apply and train NFPA 70E practices for plant personnel; review contractor safety practices.
• Conduct general electrical training at site locations.
