Job summary

Messer, the world’s largest privately held industrial gases company, seeks a Lead Electrical Engineer to provide electrical technical leadership for plant equipment design, installation, and code compliance on projects in the Americas.

The role focuses on delivering preliminary power distribution designs and equipment cost bases for proposals, mentoring junior engineers, and coordinating with vendors, contractors, and other disciplines to meet project targets. Travel 20–40% is expected.

Qualifications

Experience designing and commissioning electrical power distribution for large motors and chemical plants.
Experience with HV/LV substations, switchgear and motor control centers.
Ability to create corporate specifications and standards for electrical equipment.
Knowledge of NFPA, NEC, OSHA, NEMA, NETA, IEEE, ANSI and ISA.
Travel 20–40% or as required by projects.
Experience with PLC and DCS control systems for motor operation.

Responsibilities

Ensure all implemented systems are designed and operated safely.
Design, specify, select, commission and troubleshoot plant electrical distribution systems.
Oversee engineering contractors and review designs, specs, and schedules.
Audit vendors, FAT, and participate in HAZOPs and risk assessments.
Develop QA/QC plans for electrical equipment and installation.
Interface with proposals group to produce preliminary design and cost information.
Provide technical support to Messer Americas operations as needed.
