Johnson & Johnson's Robotics and Digital Solutions RAD group is hiring a Senior Electrical R&D Engineer in Santa Clara, CA. You will own electrical system design, power electronics, motor control, sensing, and high-speed communications for a next-gen medical robotics platform.

The role offers significant technical ownership, growth opportunities, and influence from concept through commercialization within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 4+ years or Master's with 2+ years in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Experience designing electronic hardware with CAD tools and knowledge of power integrity, signal integrity, EMC, fault-tolerant design.
• Familiarity with microcontrollers, BLDC motor control, and SPI/I2C communication.
• Strong lab skills: PCB bring-up, debugging, instruments like oscilloscopes and current probes.

Responsibilities

• Own full lifecycle development of PCAs: architecture, schematic, PCB layout, prototyping, verification, documentation, and release.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on sensing, motion, optical, and thermal subsystems; contribute to system architecture and reviews.
• Plan and execute verification activities: fixture testing, EMI/ESD, thermal analysis, debugging, and validation.
• Drive hands-on prototyping, experimentation, and problem solving with independent and collaborative work.
