Job summary

Johnson & Johnson Robotics and Digital Solutions in Santa Clara, CA, seeks a Senior Electrical R&D Engineer to lead electrical architecture and develop high‑performance power electronics and motor control for a world‑class medical robotics platform.

You will collaborate with sensing, communication, and validation teams, own PCA development, and drive rigorous testing, documentation, and design reviews to move concepts toward commercialization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 4+ years, or Master’s with 2+ years in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience designing electronic hardware using Altium Designer with knowledge of power integrity, signal integrity, EMC, and fault-tolerant design principles.
• Familiarity with microcontrollers, BLDC motor control systems, and SPI/I2C protocols.
• Strong laboratory skills, including PCB bring-up, rework, debugging, and the use of oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and current probes.
• Self-motivated, hands-on, and capable of collaborating across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Own the full lifecycle development of PCAs, including architecture, schematic design, PCB layout, prototyping, verification, documentation, reviews, and release.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop electrical solutions for sensing, motion, optical, and thermal subsystems and contribute to system architecture and risk analyses.
• Plan and execute component and subsystem verification activities, including EMI/ESD evaluation, thermal analysis, troubleshooting, and design validation.
• Drive innovation through hands-on prototyping, experimentation, and problem solving while balancing independent work with collaboration.
