Job summary

RWE Americas, LLC is seeking a Sr Engineer I, Electrical Projects to oversee electrical systems design for onshore wind, solar and storage development. This is a full-time, permanent position in the Engineering area, with an exempt pay classification.

You will lead balance of plant design, support pre-construction, ensure grid code compliance, specify major equipment, perform power system studies, and coordinate with 3rd party consultants while upholding health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering (ABET-accredited) or equivalent.
• Minimum 6 years of post-undergraduate electrical engineering experience.
• Experience in transmission design, substation design, collection and distribution design, major equipment specification, power system studies, and protection and control.
• Experience in renewable generation (wind, solar, storage) project design preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage customer relationships.
• Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams; strong leadership and communication.

Responsibilities

• Design balance of plant packages during development.
• Engineering project support during pre-construction, construction, and turnover to Operations.
• Grid code compliance and interconnection requirements.
• Specification and evaluation of major balance of plant electrical equipment.
• Power system modeling and studies.
• Coordinating project engineering topics during construction.
• Management of 3rd party engineering consultants.
• Coordinating with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts.
• Ensure highest level of health, safety, and environmental standards in designs and standards.
• Support development of electrical engineering standards.
