Job summary

M.C. Dean is seeking a Project Estimator to develop budgets and cost codes for electrical construction projects, guiding proposals from initial bid through construction completion.

This role ensures work complies with standards, specifications and budgets while collaborating with teammates and clients. Responsibilities include preparing bid estimates, pricing change orders, and coordinating schedules; reading drawings and contracts; and supporting project planning, safety and quality control

Qualifications

• Experience preparing bid proposals, estimates and design/build proposals.
• Strong MS Office and CAD literacy.
• Familiarity with electrical equipment, materials and specs.
• Ability to read blueprints and contracts.
• Background check required and must pass.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop budgets and cost codes for projects and assist in proposal design and writing.
• Gather data and assist in preparing bid proposal estimates and design/build proposals.
• Develop and present detailed project scopes to customers and lead proposal meetings.
• Run day-to-day operations of a project or sub-section.
• Create project schedules using Critical Path Method and allocate cost/manpower.
• Understand plans/specs to identify materials and equipment and ensure compliance.
• Price and manage change orders and maintain price data from suppliers/contractors.
• Assist in field inspections and productivity tracking.

Education

Master's degree

Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Civil, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management

Associate's degree

High School diploma or GED
