Job summary

M.C. Dean in Tysons, VA seeks a Level 1 Estimator to support bid and design/build proposals for electrical and related systems. You will assist in take-offs, gather data, and coordinate pricing with subcontractors and vendors to ensure competitive bids.

You will work under supervision to learn cost fundamentals, read plans, and apply project requirements, while contributing to accurate estimates and timely submissions for complex infrastructure work.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Associate's Degree with 4+ years experience required.
High School Diploma or GED with 6+ years experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Gather data and assist in preparing bid proposal estimates and design/build proposals.
Perform take-offs from drawings; pricing change orders; conduct site visits to understand constructability.
Understand plans and specifications to identify materials and equipment and ensure compliance with project requirements.
Maintain current prices from supplies and contractors and apply cost fundamentals.
Prepare bid packages and obtain pricing from subcontractors and vendors.
Familiarity with electrical equipment, materials and specifications; read blueprints.
Experience with contract documents such as drawings, subcontracts, and addenda.
