Job summary

Chevron Corporation seeks an Electrical Power Engineer to join the Operations Performance team supporting the Salt Lake Refinery in Salt Lake City, Utah, with responsibility for medium voltage power distribution, motor controls, switch gear, UPS, and substations up to 138kV. The role involves engineering design, troubleshooting, and project execution across multiple US refineries with periodic travel.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
10+ years of experience in electrical power engineering.
Excellent communication, collaboration and complex problem-solving skills.
Experience in designing HV/MV/LV distribution systems including substations, switch gear, motor controls, protection schemes, transformers, UPS and DC power.
Experience with electrical distribution modeling and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

Provide electrical power engineering support for facility-wide infrastructure improvement initiatives.
Perform studies using distribution modelling tools to improve safety, reliability and economics.
Coordinate with local utility representatives.
Develop and manage Engineering Work Orders for electrical projects.
Design and supervise installation of complex equipment such as motor controls and substations.
Prepare purchase specs for engineered electrical equipment and oversee tests.
Provide field support to troubleshoot medium voltage issues and outages.
Develop and select cost-effective reliability solutions.
Support maintenance, turnarounds, project construction, commissioning and startup.
Mentor and guide other electrical engineers.
