Job summary

MPR Associates, Inc. seeks an Electrical Systems Engineer to join our Salt Lake City team on a full-time basis. You will help design power systems, perform analyses, and support equipment procurement and commissioning across diverse projects.

Your work will involve coordinating with controls teams, preparing technical documents, and mentoring junior engineers while delivering reliable, safe, and compliant solutions.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of experience in electrical power systems.
• Familiarity with IEEE and NERC regulations.
• Experience with electrical analysis tools such as MATLAB/ETAP/PSCAD/EMTPRV/ANSYS.
• CAD tools for electrical drawings are a plus.
• Experience delivering complete electrical project lifecycles.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical designs for power systems and select equipment.
• Validate designs against NFPA 70, IEEE, NERC, ISO and local utility standards.
• Perform load flow, short-circuit, and transient studies.
• Investigate failures, evaluate improvements, and advise on alternatives.
• Develop procurement specifications for major equipment.
• Supervise testing, installation, and commissioning activities.
