Job summary

Upcoresolutions in Utah is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead the design and development of low- and medium-voltage switchgear and distribution systems. You will mentor engineers, review deliverables, and ensure compliance with standards while guiding complex projects from concept to production.

You will collaborate with mechanical designers, project managers, and manufacturing teams, addressing customer requirements, protection schemes, and control circuits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred) or related engineering discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in switchgear or power distribution equipment design.
• Experience leading complex projects from concept through manufacturing and testing.
• Experience reviewing and approving engineering deliverables.
• Experience mentoring or training engineers.
• Advanced understanding of low- and medium-voltage systems (up to 38kV).
• Advanced understanding of electrical protection and control systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of complex electrical switchgear systems: general requirements, elevation/plan views, single-line diagrams, schematics, control circuits.
• Provide guidance on component selection, coordination, and project requirements.
• Create and revise engineering drawings using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
• Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, UL, NEMA, and other standards.
• Collaborate with mechanical, project management, and manufacturing teams.
• Review customer specifications and provide input during submittal, production, and post-shipment phases.
• Participate in customer technical review meetings and provide engineering input during project execution.
• Support resolution of technical issues during manufacturing, testing, commissioning, and post-shipment activities.
