Bala Consulting Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for our Arlington, VA office to design electrical power distribution infrastructure, fire alarm and security systems for commercial and healthcare facilities.

You will lead technical efforts, perform on-site surveys, and coordinate with multiple disciplines. Applicants should have 10+ years of experience and a PE/EIT background; Revit proficiency and LEED familiarity are a plus.

• EIT certification required.
• PE preferred is an asset.
• LEED accreditation preferred.

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for our Arlington, VA office supporting the function enterprise-wide.

• Prepare calculations for feeders, services, short circuit, transformer size.
• Design building electrical distribution, fire alarm and security systems.
• Perform on-site surveys of existing electrical equipment.
• Determine schedules and details required for the project. Review with project engineer.
• Attend job meetings as required.
• Ensure flow of information between disciplines.
• Assist in writing reports and feasibility studies.
• Prepare cost estimates and specifications.

The requirements for this position include:

• 10+ years of experience in designing electrical power distribution infrastructure, fire alarm systems, lighting systems, both interior and exterior, and lighting controls.
• Knowledge should include familiarity with short circuit, arc flash coordination, design of interior and exterior lighting, and photometric calculations.
• Background in commercial and healthcare facilities strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• Knowledge of applicable codes including energy conservation.
• PE Preferred. EIT certification required.
• LEED accreditation preferred.
• Proficiency with Revit design software with at least 1 year experience of formal design use.
• General understanding of Microsoft Office.
