Bala Consulting Engineers, a 200-person multidisciplinary firm, seeks an Electrical Project Engineer to join our New York City office and support enterprise-wide electrical design initiatives. The role emphasizes electrical power distribution, fire alarm and lighting systems for commercial and healthcare facilities.

Candidates should have 7–10 years of relevant experience, a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, and familiarity with codes and energy conservation.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of experience in designing electrical power distribution infrastructure, fire alarm systems, lighting and controls.
• Knowledge of short circuit, arc flash coordination, interior/exterior lighting design and photometric calculations.
• Commercial and healthcare facilities experience preferred.
• Codes including energy conservation knowledge.
• PE or EIT certification preferred.
• LEED accreditation preferred.
• Proficiency with Revit design software with at least 1 year of formal design use.

Responsibilities

• Prepare calculations for feeders, services, short circuit, transformer size.
• Design building electrical distribution, fire alarm and security systems.
• Perform on-site surveys of existing electrical equipment.
• Determine schedules and details required for the project; review with project engineer.
• Attend job meetings as required.
• Ensure flow of information between disciplines.
• Assist in writing reports and feasibility studies.
• Support developing electrical standards.
• Prepare cost estimates and specifications.
