Job summary

Bala Consulting Engineers seeks a mid-level Electrical Engineer to join our Boston, MA office. You will design electrical power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and security systems for diverse facilities, and conduct on-site surveys to support project goals.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, prepare calculations, and assist in cost estimates and specifications. A bachelor’s degree and 3–6 years of experience are required; PE/EIT and LEED are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 3 to 6 years of experience in electrical power distribution, fire alarm and lighting design.
• PE or EIT certification preferred; LEED accreditation preferred.
• Proficiency with Revit; AutoCAD experience a plus.
• Knowledge of codes including energy conservation.

Responsibilities

The basic requirements for this position include:

• 3 to 6 years of experience in designing electrical power distribution infrastructure, fire alarm systems, lighting systems, both interior and exterior, and lighting controls.


• Knowledge should include familiarity with short circuit, arc flash coordination, design of interior and exterior lighting, and photometric calculations.


• Background in commercial and healthcare facilities strongly preferred.


• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering


• Knowledge of applicable codes including energy conservation.


• PE or EIT certification preferred.


• LEED accreditation preferred.


• Proficiency with Revit design software with at least 1 year experience of formal design use.
