Bala Consulting Engineers, Inc. in Baltimore, MD, is seeking an Electrical Engineering Department Manager (MEP) to lead the Baltimore electrical team, manage select projects and develop a group capable of large-scale work regionally and nationally.

The role combines technical leadership, project management, and client development, with responsibilities spanning staffing, budgets, schedules, quality control, and collaboration with offices across Bala's enterprise.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in electrical/fire alarm design.
• Maryland PE license required.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited program.
• Strong technical writing & software skills including Revit.
• Good interpersonal & communication skills.
• Self-motivated attitude with ability to multitask in a timeline-driven environment.

Responsabilités

As a Manager and Snr. Electrical Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic and experienced team that drives innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction across all aspects of a project.

The Electrical Engineering Department Manager is an enterprise role responsible for not only their projects but for providing support to more junior staff and/ or project teams.

Primary responsibilities will include:

Technical Leadership & Project Management:

• Serve as engineering leader and technical expert with the ability to answer questions and resolve issues brought forth by the engineering staff.
• Check and confirm the accuracy of the work performed and the methods used by engineering staff.
• Create detailed engineering plans, processes, and procedures for electrical engineering staff to use and abide by.
• Perform department management activities including recruitment, hiring, coaching, and leadership.
• Serve as an engineering leader and technical expert with the ability to answer questions and resolve issues brought forth by the engineering staff.
• Serve as a technical resource and point of contact for the staff.
• Utilize quality control reviews to reinforce technical lessons and company processes.
• Provide input utilizing sound engineering principles.
• Provide input on individual staff member performance, advancement, and potential.
• Propose and oversee budgets and timelines for engineering projects.
• Communicate and collaborate with other managers, suppliers, and contractors to drive on time and on budget completion of projects.
• Review workforce projections and determine how they relate to staffing.
• Drive ownership, accountability and culture through the company.
• Interact with partners and executives on a regular basis to further the growth and quality agenda of the firm.
• Provide marketing and business development support.
• Identify potential business opportunities.
• Work with the leadership team to develop fees on complex projects.
• Develop and maintain client relationships.
• Grow the volume and footprint of the office market sectors.

Educations and Skills Requirements for this position include:

• 10 plus years of experience in electrical/fire alarm design
• Team supervisory experience
• Maryland PE license
• Bachelor’s degree electrical engineering required from a 4-year accredited college or university.
• Strong technical writing & software skills including Revit
• Sound knowledge of building codes
• Great interpersonal & communication skills
• Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment with the ability to work individually or as part of a team
