What You Will Do:

GFT is seeking an Electrical Inspector to join our Construction Services Team in New York, NY. This role requiring regular attendance in New York, NY office.

In this role, you'll use your technical knowledge to perform detailed electrical inspections, ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance with project specifications. Your work will directly contribute to modernizing vital infrastructure, improving the lives of commuters, and supporting the communities that depend on efficient, safe, and sustainable public transit.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Maintain accurate and detailed daily log of the contractor's performance and progress including delivery of materials.
  • Track field conditions that require deviation from drawings. Make notes on drawings and communicate with Resident Engineer. (RE to communicate with Client)
  • Responsible for monitoring, inspecting and documenting the progress and quality of all aspects of construction.
  • Coordinate with the necessary entities to make sure safety standards are being followed.
  • Coordinate with the necessary entities to make sure environmental standards are met.
  • Compute estimates of work completed and coordinate with the Resident Engineer and Office Engineer in verifying Contractor's Application for Payment
  • Examine workmanship of completed construction for conformity to project specifications and industry standards of construction.
  • Other duties as directed by the Resident Engineer.
Education | Experience:

What you will bring to our firm:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or NICET-II certification in electrical or acceptable combination of education / years' experience in 7 + years experience on Rail Projects
  • Experience with local Rail clients (Amtrak, MTA, NJT) a plus
  • Ability to read and understand plans, specifications and shop drawings
  • Effectively utilize computer systems and software for documentation and data management like ASITE, Procore, Ebuilder etc.
  • Valid driver's license and access to motor vehicle transportation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedule to accommodate varying shift work (day, evening, overnight, weekends)
  • Must be able to be on your feet for 7 hours
Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $110,000 - $140,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
